Introducing our Member of the Month...Interior Couture of the Carolinas

When Pam Dawes and Elaine Mitchell met each other 12 years ago they discovered they have many things in common, chiefly they both have an insatiable passion for fabric and home furnishings. Pam and Elaine both began their businesses at about the same time and each had their own drapery workroom in their homes.   Their business relationship strengthened over the years, and 4 years ago they decided to form a partnership and expand business. They moved their workroom to a public.

In March 2008, Interior Couture of the Carolinas, Inc. was born.  The business is located on Providence Road between Weddington and Waxhaw.   The “shop” has a selection room where customers can shop for fabrics, trim, hardware, blinds, and shutters, and custom furniture.  The showroom has samples of window treatments and furniture.  The “magic” happens in the back of the shop where their workroom is located.  All custom treatments are created in this space.  Pam and Elaine agree they want to focus on quality, service, and customer relationships. Clients are split almost evenly between designers and home owners.  Pam and Elaine use their over 40 years of combined experience to help guide home owners in choosing style, color and fabrics for their home décor projects.  They also use their expertise as window treatment designers to be a part of the design team for their designer clients.   No job is too large or too small for Interior Couture.

In February 2012 their work was featured on the cover of House Beautiful and in the feature article.  The house is in the Myers Park area of Charlotte and the interiors were designed by NYC designer Lindsey Coral Harper.

The same house was featured in an article in the June issue of Charlotte Urban Home Magazine, (urbanhomemagazine.com).  Pam and Elaine recently completed a house with Lindsey Coral Harper in Pittsburg, PA.  Additionally, they worked on a room in a designer house in Atlanta, and their work can be seen in the current issue of Atlanta Homes and Lifestyle, (www.atlantahomesmag.com).
